Documents discovered in the book of records of the municipal cemetery of Curitiba, the Parish Church death book, and the former Algerian Colony registry office, show that the Pirate Zulmiro lived in Curitiba and died at age 90 on August 24, 1889.

The story was made official by the mayor of Curitiba Rafael Greca, in a ceremony at City Memorial, with researcher Marcos Juliano dressed as Pirate to commemorate the legend that became history.
